SoulCollage® Guided Studio An in person and online class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville, TN, 6:30pm-8:30pm Central Time. October 14, November 4, December 2 Attend them all, or just one! You’ve experienced the playful creative process of making your own cards for self-discovery and personal guidance. Now dive deeper into your SoulCollage® practice with trained SoulCollage® facilitator, Lesley Patterson-Marx. Lesley will guide you into new card-making themes and learning topics based on the process at each guided studio as you make and share your cards in a supportive community. Making Mini Longstitch Junk Journals, and Sharing Simple Cyanotypes, presentation and make-along An online only program for the San Diego Book Arts monthly members meeting, October 21, 1pm-3pm Central Time. I will guide you in making a mini longstitch “junk journal”. A junk journal is a one-of-a–kind, small hand bound book made from a variety of recycled materials. You will transform vintage magazines, maps, old photos, scraps of fabric, and more, into a little book that you’re sure to treasure. I will also share a few examples of my book and textile works that incorporate cyanotypes on paper and fabric. Although you won’t be making cyanotypes at our meeting, I will talk you through a simple and fun approach to the cyanotype technique, with minimal set up and no mess. Exploding Picture Box An in person class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville, TN, 10am-4pm, November 21 The Exploding Picture Box is a three-dimensional “book” structure made of paper that, at first glance, looks like a square box with a lid. When the lid is lifted, the square unfolds into a delightful form with multiple layers. As you learn to make “The Exploding Picture Box,” you will have the opportunity to use a variety of creative mediums to embellish the “pages.” You’ll be able to incorporate demonstrated techniques, including mixed media collage, photographs, cut paper designs, and more!
A variety of fun paper and collage materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own special photos and other paper items to use as well. Watch your creativity explode as you explore the possibilities of this versatile book form! Register Here

SoulCollage® Card for the New YearAn in person class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville, TN, 10am-4pm, January 9
You’ve experienced the playful, creative process of making your own cards for self-discovery and personal guidance. In this full-day experience, you’ll dive deeper into your SoulCollage® practice. As a trained SoulCollage® facilitator, I will guide participants in creating a card for the new year through a guided meditation and fun card making process that relies on synchronicity and intuition, combining images into one card that represents the year ahead. Your new SoulCollage® card for 2027 will be an empowering touchstone as you embark on your journey through the year ahead! Register Here

Hand Carved Stamps: Relief Printing for Book Cloth and Decorative Paper An online class through San Diego Book Arts, 12pm-2pm Central Time, February 1, 8, and 15
Participants will learn to carve and print their own stamps on both paper and cloth. Demonstrations will include transferring both abstract and representational designs onto the carving material, carving the stamps, printing with both stamps pads and acrylic paint, creating repeating patterns, and making book cloth from prints on fabric. The carving material that will be used for making the stamps is soft and easy to carve while still retaining crisp details. Participants will complete the workshop with a few stamps that can be used over and again, as well as some unique prints to incorporate into future creations! This workshop is suitable for all levels, and beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend! Register Here

You will learn helpful tips that make this versatile and accessible medium even more fun.
Learn how to use a variety of adhesives, papers, and cutting tools, while you learn to create windows, doors, layered imagery, and more. This class is suitable for beginners as well as experienced collage artists.

3-D Collage: Pop-Up Accordion Panorama A one day in person class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville TN, 10am-4pm, February 27 Witness in delight as your hand-cut panoramic collage emerges in 3-D from the pages of an accordion book!
In this workshop, you’ll learn a variety of paper pop-up techniques using cardstock and an xacto knife. After an introduction to collage techniques, you’ll create a continuous mixed media collage on a long paper panel, which will then be folded into an accordion-style book. On the folds of the accordion, you’ll use pop-up techniques to cut through your collage, creating three-dimensional areas that both pop out and recede. The panorama will then be attached between covered boards (these can be collaged too!) and completed with a ribbon tie closure.
