Intermediate Sewing: Choose Your Own Project A six week in person class through Watkins Community Education at Belmont University, Nashville, TN. 6pm-9pm , September 17, 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22 In this course, students will choose their own projects based on their skills level. In this guided setting, Lesley will give demonstrations on sewing techniques as needed and will help students with problem solving. Students will also experience the enjoyment and inspiration of seeing what others are working on, be it their own clothes, home décor projects, or unfinished projects. This course is appropriate for students with some prior sewing experience. Students should bring their own sewing machine; a suggested supply list will be provided. Register Here

Handbound Books With Button Closures A four week online class through John C. Campbell Fok School Online. 5pm-7pm Central Time, October 5, 12, 19, 26 Are there buttons in your collection that you've been saving for a special occasion? This may be the perfect opportunity to highlight these treasures as design features in a lovely trio of books that you bind by hand. All skill levels are invited to explore the possibilities of buttons as closures for Linked Longstitch, Buttonhole Stitch, and Buttonhole Stitch with Slotted Wrapper book structures. Introduction to SoulCollage® A one day in person class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville TN, 10am-4pm, October 3 Through a playful creative process, make your own cards that have the potential to connect you to self-discovery and provide personal guidance. Trained SoulCollage® facilitator Lesley Patterson-Marx will guide you in this expressive collage art practice wherein images and glue are transformed into your own deck of 5”x8” cards infused with personal meaning that can help you navigate life’s questions. You don’t have to be an artist to make these wonderful cards in this introduction to a process that is both powerful and a lot of fun. Register Here

SoulCollage® Guided Studio An in person and online class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville, TN, 6:30pm-8:30pm Central Time. October 14, November 4, December 2 Attend them all, or just one! You’ve experienced the playful creative process of making your own cards for self-discovery and personal guidance. Now dive deeper into your SoulCollage® practice with trained SoulCollage® facilitator, Lesley Patterson-Marx. Lesley will guide you into new card-making themes and learning topics based on the process at each guided studio as you make and share your cards in a supportive community. Exploding Picture Box An in person class at Art & Soul Nashville, Nashville, TN, 10am-4pm, November 21 The Exploding Picture Box is a three-dimensional “book” structure made of paper that, at first glance, looks like a square box with a lid. When the lid is lifted, the square unfolds into a delightful form with multiple layers. As you learn to make “The Exploding Picture Box,” you will have the opportunity to use a variety of creative mediums to embellish the “pages.” You’ll be able to incorporate demonstrated techniques, including mixed media collage, photographs, cut paper designs, and more!
A variety of fun paper and collage materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own special photos and other paper items to use as well. Watch your creativity explode as you explore the possibilities of this versatile book form! Register Here
