Experience the joy of learning to sew your own clothes! This six-week class is for absolute beginners, who are brand new to sewing, or those who have sewn before, and want to gain confidence in using a sewing machine. Students will make their own pair of pants or pajama pants with pockets and an elastic waistband, and a simple top. We'll be using patterns from 100 Acts of Sewing, Pants No. 1 and Top No. 1. These patterns can be purchased at Textile Fabrics, where the class will be held. Here are some of the fun and valuable skills that are covered in this workshop:
Students will learn to thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, and stitch together layers of fabric.
Students will learn to read a pattern, trace a pattern and cut fabric to size.
Students will learn to measure themselves and alter the pattern for a better fit.
Students will learn to lengthen or shorten a pattern.
Students will learn how to create elastic waist bands, add pockets, bias binding, and hems.Tuition is $250 and will meet at Textile Fabrics for six consecutive Fridays. Class size is limited to six people. Students will need to provide their own sewing machines, supplies, patterns, and fabric. Payment is due at the time of registration. Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check are all accepted.
